Caffarel Premium Gianduia Spread With 40% Hazelnuts 210g

Caffarel premium Giandiua, or gianduja, spread is a taste of Italy’s original cocoa & hazelnut treat in a jar. Spread on freshly baked bread, in cakes and on biscuits. Or gently warm some of the chocolate and hazelnut spread in a bowl and use to dunk whole fruit and nuts in for after-dinner indulgence.

The premium Gianduia spread is made with Piedmont IGP hazelnuts. They have a rich, roasted hazelnut flavour that will transport you to Piedmont with each taste.

Caffarel made the first ever Gianduia in 1865. It was the time of the Risorgimento, or ‘resurgence’, which led to the eventual unification of all Italy. The import of luxury goods was limited by the government, and this included cocoa. Caffarel came up with the idea of replacing some of the cocoa in their confectionery with local Piedmont hazelnuts, known as some of the finest hazelnuts in the world. They named their new creation after the comedia dell’arte character, Gianduja, who represents the Piedmont region.
