Darmmess high phenolic lebanese extra virgin olive oil is made in Lebanon, often called ‘the Bordeaux of olive oils’. It is called high phenolic because of the levels of polyphenols – compounds which give the oil wonderful peppery flavour and a slight bitterness. These polyphenols also make Darmmess olive oil a strong antioxidant.
The oil has green notes, with flavours of cut grass, green tomato and fresh avocado. There are also flavours of balsamic and bitter almond.
Use it to dress salads, or steamed fish. Or drizzle over fresh tomatoes and Mediterranean mezze dishes.
The oil comes from Deir Mimas in South Lebanon – a small rural village overlooking the Litani river. The Deir Mimas olive trees grow in naturally rich clay soil, and the fruit ripens under the Mediterranean sun.
