Sweet cooked azuki beans are used in southeast Asian desserts such as in the filling for Chinese mooncakes, red bean pancakes and Japanese wagashi. The sweetened paste is made from boiled red beans known as azuki, adzuki and aduki, which are mashed and seasoned with sugar.
How to make Zenzai dessert soup
- Empty the 400g pack of red bean paste into 320ml of water
- Bring to the boil for 1-2 minutes
- Serve with your favourite toppings (a traditional topping is mochi, or glutinous rice cake)
Ingredients: Water, sugar, adzuki beans (21%), starch, salt.
Storage: Once opened, keep refrigerated and consume as soon as possible.
