Sucklebusters ‘Area 51’ Turkey brine kit is made to give maximum flavour to poultry. Soak your turkey in the mix to infuse the meat with seasoning, before cooking. The brine process will also crisp up your turkey skin and give the meat wonderful succulence.
How to brine a turkey:
- Add the small packet of herbs with 2.3l of water in a large pot
- Stir often and bring to the boil, then remove from heat
- Add the larger packet of seasonings to the pot and dissolve
- Add 2.3l of ice cold water, stir until the mixture reaches room temperature or cooler
- Place your turkey into the brine bag and pour over the mixture. Add cold water as needed to completely cover your turkey.
- Remove excess air and seal the bag
- Brine in a refrigerator or ice-filled cooler for 1 hour, per pound of turkey or overnight
- When finished, remove from the brine bag and pat dry
- Season and cook immediately.
