Bamboo charcoal powder is the ingredient you need to recreate some of the most talked-about food across magazines and social media. Black ice cream, black macarons, and even black bagels exploded across America last summer, and quickly inspired chefs all over the world.
The activated bamboo charcoal is 100% natural, but still has an intense colouring effect. Use small amounts at a time – ½ – 1 teaspoon say – and mix well to see the colour. Be aware that the colour will darken during cooking, so don’t worry if your cake mixture, dough or batter only looks a very dark grey! The charcoal is water soluble and also has a completely neutral flavour.
Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
